Good Afternoon to you all,
Whilst we are now officially in Winter and with the weather so poor and cold and with Christmas still
to look forward to, or not, it seems a little crazy to be talking about our next outdoor bowls season but
that is what I need to do.
Bob and myself have received details relating to London & Southern Counties competitions (L&SC) and
the club has entered teams into these competitions for several years with all entry fees paid for by the club.
Unfortunately, entries for the competitions we would like to enter are required to be submitted and paid for
by the end of January 2025.
We do not, ideally, want to waste any entries made and so Bob and I are asking all playing members of the club
to let us know if they are interested in being included in any of the competitions, which initially at least, should be
fairly local. You may play at totally new clubs and players to those we normally play against which is good as well.
We will be looking for players for the following competitions:
Challenge Shield
- This is two 4's one at home and one away and can be a combination of both men and women.
Men's Pairs; Men's Triples; Men's Fours
Mixed Pairs; Mixed Fours
Ladies Singles; Ladies Pairs
According to the L&SC rules as they are at the moment, Men can enter the Challenge Shield, one other Male competition
and one Mixed competition. Ladies may enter the Challenge Shield and one mixed competition. I have questionned this
with L&SC as with the addition of two new Ladies competitions this seems completely wrong. But have not had a response
as yet. Most of the competitions apart from the Challenge Shield allow a maximum of 3 entries per club, with the Challenge
Shield allowing one club entry only.
The matches are NOT on a set date but do need to be played by a set date and whoever is at home needs to offer 3 dates
to the opposition team of which one should be a Saturday or Sunday, according to L&SC rules.
Please could you let Bob or myself know which competitions you would like to be playing in and if you wish to be playing
with somebody in particular for instance in pairs, or triples etc.
We need to know names by 10th January 2025 to allow time to make all the relevant entries and ensure all names are
registered with L&SC.
